3D Movies
I took my grandaughter to see "JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH" a couple of days ago. I knew the movie would be no good (after all it stars Brendan Fraser) but I enjoy the new REAL D 3D technology. Its usually quite good. This one was not. Lousy use of the 3D...mainly throwing yo yo's at the camera, that sort of thing. Anyway...I believe this new 3D process could be a boost to the theater industry if it is used well. It could revive the ailing boxoffice if it is kept affordable, it cost me $17 for us to get in at the "bargain" matinee. This local excuse for a movie house charges $2.00 for the glasses even if you bring your own from a previous release. I had to miss the first 5 minutes of the feature since I had to go to the lobby twice to get the "gum snapping" concession teen to get someone to adjust the masking as the picture was overshooting everything. This is business as usual. There is no pride in presenting a good show like there used to be...even with the mostly "foolproof" digital projection these days..it takes a little "human" care and adjustment to present it well. Okay, besides 3D technology...the BEST way to improve movie business is to care enough to PAY enough to hire professional people to run your theaters. RANT!
